• How to Configure Your Computer to Capture Complete/Kernel Memory Dump

    As a desktop engineer during troubleshooting you will come across a situation to capture full memory dump or Kernel Dump on the troubling system.

    Below is the detailed process on manually configuring the memory dump on the system:

    1. Click Start Run
    2. In the Run command type SYSDM.CPL and Click OK
    3. Goto Advanced Tab
    4. In the Startup and Recovery Section Click on Settings

    5.  Under Write debugging information section select the type of memory dump
    6. Specify the Dump file location you would require and Click OK.
    7. Click ok and close the System Properties Dialog box.

    Alternatively you can configure these settings using group policy. Below is the registry location and the settings corresponding to the above configuration:

    Registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl
