  • Handling Session Timeout in JQuery AJAX call

    If you are using AJAX to asyncronously get data to your web application, one the the problems you would come across is session expired error. This article show how to redirect user to login page once the session has expired.

    Here is simple but effective method that we used in one of our applications. The example demonstrates calling of page method to get current time when a link is clicked, and if the session is timed out, will redirect to login page

  • Cascading Dropdowns using JQuery

    Cascading Dropdowns are a series of dependent Dropdowns where one dropdown is dependent on the parent and is populated based on the item selected by the user. In this article i would let you know a simple way to achieve this using JQuery.

    Generally, in case of cascading dropdown, once a user selects a dropdown a request is sent ASP.NET/PHP backend which inturn calls the DB to get required data which is populated. This means every time user selects new dropdown item there is trip to a database. Unless there is large dataset , you can bring the data once, populate the dropdowns using Jquery.
